    Plateau

Plateau is a new strain of couch developed in Australia. It has much of the same hard wearing and good looking characteristics of other couch varieties, yet differs greatly in its growth pattern. "Plateau" is so named for its unique trait of strong lateral growth. This means that instead of the main growth energy tending upwards, it actually prefers to grow sideways and so can spread itself across large areas faster than any other variety.

An important side-effect of this lateral growth characteristic, is that the frequency of mowing required is greatly reduced. Even in peak growing seasons Plateau requires mowing only every 3-5 weeks as opposed to other varieties which need weekly mowing to maintain optimum appearance.

The reduced maintenance requirements of Plateau can provide significant cost savings for large applications such as sporting grounds and golfing fairways.

The reduction in mowing frequency of Plateau also benefits the environment, as when lawn is damaged (during mowing) it releases chemicals that can contribute to the creation of photochemical smog.

Another benefit of Plateau is that it is also very shade tolerant . This enables it to be used in a diverse range of applications.

Plateau is currently being used in many high profile applications across Australia such as:

    • The Royal Sydney Golf Club
    • Optus Oval
    • Colonial Stadium
    • The Gabba
