    Plateau Couch

Plateau Couch is a new variety of couch developed in Australia, that we can now offer our customers. For a more detailed look at this exciting new lawn, see also "New Strains".

Plateau is a new strain of couch developed in Australia. It has much of the same hard wearing and good looking characteristics of other couch varieties, yet differs greatly in its growth pattern. "Plateau" is so named for its unique trait of strong lateral growth. This means that instead of the main growth energy tending upwards, it actually prefers to grow sideways and so can spread itself across large areas faster than any other variety.

    CHARACTERISTICS

    •  Non irritant
    •  Medium invasion characteristics
    •  Low to medium maintenance
    •  High tolerance to waterlogging
    •  Excellent resistance to shade
    •  Excellent wear, recuperative and green up rate
    •  Excellent winter colour retention
    •  Good disease and pest resistance
    •  Requires minimum 2-4 hours direct sunlight daily
    •  Propagated from stolons (runners) or turf rolls

    MAINTENANCE
Plateau should ideally be mown every 3-5 weeks at a height of approx. 8-12mm during summer and in winter mow every 6-8 weeks and raise the mowing height to approx. 14-18mm. An even ground is important and annual to biannual scarifying might be necessary, ideally during the spring months.

    USES
Residential and commercial lawns for a soft formal appearance. High wearing areas e.g. golf courses, tennis courts, bowling greens, where hard wearing/close mowing is required. Parks and gardens, sports ovals, soil stabilisation areas, roadsides, urban in-fill areas.
